you live and you learn

so, by now you know that i live on the other side of the world. when you move around the world, things change. people do things differently here. nothing works quite like it does back home. there have been times when i have thought, "man, i should have known better" or "really, i should have done that differently." then i remember, "sam, you just moved here. how in the world should you have known about that?" you live and you learn has become something i repeat over and over to myself. really, i think this applies to a lot of life, but for the sake of some laughs and a little bit of an insight into my life, i'll skip the heavy stuff (at least momentarily) and give you a few these moments in list form...

  • buying train tickets online the night before doesn't really work.
  • as a result, i know there is no traffic at 4 am.
  • ruby tuesday here is disgusting and overpriced. way over priced.
  • dealing with big government takes a long time, no matter where you are.
  • it takes longer to make food here than in the states. a lot longer at times.
  • monkeys are evil.
  • pigeons are the lowest, most evil form of life on the planet.
  • chai is good. i knew that already, but...
  • i can endure ridiculously spicy foods in equal ridiculous amounts.
  • sometimes, the best place to eat can be the cheapest... thank you anokhi.
  • the Father is in control. i have seem Him orchestrate things that i need to happen in such crazy ways, that it has to be Him.
  • sometimes, the best conversations happen when i let Him lead the right people into my path and i don't have to start it. other times, i have to start it.  He is always faithful.

  2. 100% agreed that pigeons are the lowest, most evil form of life on the planet. Thank you for putting that in print.

My live and learn lessons of the day:
--When it's pouring rain, and you have to walk--nothing will go right that day.
--The bank office is closed on Mondays.
--The main bank is not closed on Mondays, but does close for lunch at noon.
--The book store does not open until 2 on Mondays.
Thus: do not leave house before two on Mondays. Especially if it's raining.
