2011: the year of the book

you might remember that at the beginning of the year, i made a ridiculous goal list.  you might remember that i scrapped it, but i have achieved one thing i wanted to do--i have read more.  without further ado, here are the books that i have completed thus far.  there are others that i have read, but i don't remember all of them.

  • In Spite of the gods: The Curious Rise of Modern India, Edward Luce
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larsson
  • Delhi: Adventures in a Megacity, Sam Miller
  • Blue Like Jazz, Donald Miller
  • Searching for God Know What, Donald Miller
  • Through Painted Deserts, Donald Miller
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, J. K. Rowling
  • The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
  • 2 States, Chetan Bhagat
  • One Night @ the Call Center, Chetan Bhagat
  • City of Djinns: A Year in Delhi, William Dalrymple
i have read most of these in the past 2-3 months.  i think the combination of the summer heat and train rides contributed to the reading uptick.  i would most recommend Dalrymple, Miller, and Rowling.

  1. You should read A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller next. It might be my favorite by him. I heard him speak last week and it was really thought-provoking and meaningful. Incredible mind and heart.
