south asian food is world-renown. people love it. some people hate it. i like it. and, no, it's not all curry. really, not much is. there is also a divide between food from the north and from the south. i live in the north, and i think the food here is better! also, there is a divide between veg and non-veg. the photo above is non-veg. the bronze pot contains daal makhani, and the container to the left contains jeera aloo. daal is the hindi word for lentil. there are many, many kinds of lentil. daal makhani is made with the black daal and lots or cream and butter. aloo is the hindi word for potato. jeera is cumin. so aloo jeera (or jeera aloo) is cumin potatoes. they taste kind of like the french onion soup mix potatoes. these two dishes are some of my favorites. if you've never tried south asian food, you should! i'll post at least two or three more entries this month on food, so get hungry!
for the sake of argument, i'm just gonna go ahead and say that the food in the southern region of south asia is better...just sayin (: overall though, you are right...south asian food is delicious.
