inspiration

so. a few weeks ago i mentioned that i want to be a writer.  well, i am a writer.  writing is my creative outlet.  i like to write just about anything.  one of my goals is to write some songs.  i have co-written one song with a high school friend, but that's it.  there is one thing that stands between me and my songwriting goals.  i can't play any instrument.  i got a guitar for my 16th birthday, but the perfectionist in me wasn't happy when one hour of practice didn't see any improvement in my skills (or complete lack thereof).  however, at some point, i will learn to play the guitar.  and i will write some songs.  i doubt that they will be that great, but that's not the first goal.  the first goal is to write music.  so why is this post titled inspiration.  well, music is one of the things that makes me want to write.  it's a huge source of inspiration.  not just any music.  songs with well-crafted lyrics, flat out good music, really good vocals, or a combination thereof.  tonight, it's the song barton hollow by the civil wars.  the music is great.  the lyrics are good.  the vocals are killer.  it makes me want to do something creative.  it makes me wish i could write something that is equally well-crafted.  right now, i'll just settle for listening to the music.
