i am really digging these songs... neither of these groups are particularly faith-focused. but, both of these songs contain so much truth...
i like how both of these songs are pretty chill throughout and have a build-up that isn't forced, because what they are singing actually has meaning...
the first one is "awake my soul" by mumford & sons. i haven't listened to much of their other stuff, but i really like this song. favorite line: "awake my soul. for you were made to meet your maker."
and this one... "poison and wine" by the civil wars. some of you may know the female vocalist, joy williams. she had a very successful career in christian music. a friend mentioned that this song might have been written (from her perspective at least) about the holy spirit. i haven't been able to verify that anyway, but i think this captures the way our relationship with the father goes sometimes...
favorite line: "i don't have a choice, but i still choose you." this is my favorite song, currently.
