I head about All Sons & Daughters very recently from a good friend. I’m always looking for new music that reflects what the Father is teaching me or that proclaims Truth. One of my favorite songs from the album Brokenness Aside is “Alive.” My friend wrote a great blogpost about this song. Living in India, one is daily confronted with some harsh realities: children made to beg, people living in tents against a wall, and physical problems that would be handled easily with access to quality healthcare. Over time my mind sadly tries to ignore what is going on around me. This song speaks to the fact that there is brokenness in the world and in all of our lives. However, it also speaks of the hope that we have in Jesus. If we have our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus, we don’t have to ignore the problems around us. We can see them without being overwhelmed because we have the richest treasure to offer--a relationship with the Father.
This is a call to all the dead and disappointed
The ones who feel like they are done
This is a word to all the ones who feel forgotten
But you are not
Oh you are not
We’re alive and we’re singin’
We’re alive alive alive and we’re shaken
We’re alive alive alive in You
We are soaked in all the grace that we’ve been given
Unchained from all that we have done
Your mercy’s rising like the sun on the horizon
We’re comin’ home
